4 CANCER SURVIVORS RACE ACROSS THE USA

...ON A BIKE

On the 16th of June 2018, 4 Cancer Survivors and their crew of doctors, mechanics, therapists and helpers are going to take on what is accepted as “The Toughest Bicycle Race in the World”. The RACE ACROSS AMERICA is a 3100 mile long time trial from Oceanside, California on the West Coast of the USA to Annapolis, Maryland, just below Washington on the East Coast. The riders and crew will be racing non-stop, 24Hrs a day and hope to complete the course in around 7 Days. All of this is being done in the name of all the children currently living with cancer in the UK. We are aiming to raise £250,000+ to help our charity Cyclists Fighting Cancer provide vital support for children with cancer.

Why We're Riding

2018 is a big year for Cyclists Fighting Cancer (www.cyclistsfc.org.uk). As well as continuing to provide bikes and cycling equipment for children living with cancer, we are launching a new service called CFC Active. For the first time in the UK we will be providing one to one sessions with specially trained exercise advisers for teens and young adults living with and beyond cancer to help them get more active and confidently take up a new sports and pastimes. Staying active is an essential component in overcoming almost all side affects presented by cancer treatment. #restisnotbest.

Race Across America - Event Details

RAAM is a race! But, unlike the three great European Grand Tours (Tour de France, Vuelta a Espana and Giro de Italia), RAAM is not a stage race. RAAM is one continual stage, once the clock starts it does not stop until the finish line. It is the world’s longest time trial…the ultimate race of truth. RAAM is about 30% longer than the Tour de France. Moreover, racers must complete the distance in roughly half the time, with no rest days. Racers must cycle 3000 miles, across 12 states, and climb over 170,000 vertical feet.
